If a supplier starts quoting "thermal ribbon" or "retransfer film" specs for an inkjet machine, stop — those belong to a different technology. They are not interchangeable.

Inkjet machines shine when you do short runs of customized cards — different names, different photos, different designs on every card. That is the classic ID-card and small-business workflow: no two cards need to be identical.

What Cards and Ink Does an Inkjet PVC Card Printer Use?

Cards. Standard blank inkjet PVC cards are CR80 size: 86×54 mm (3.39×2.13 in) — the same dimensions as a credit card. For inkjet printing you need cards with an inkjet-compatible surface. A plain card for a thermal machine will not print the same way.
